Professional Services Tools Library
Professional Services Tools Library – This is a tool provided for Microsoft Dynamics GP. This tool offers a wide range of utilities for partners and customers, to perform quite a few tedious tasks at the click of a button. A classic example is where a customer number is to be changed, because of an acquisition.
This is quite tedious to perform this change in GP, since the customer number is not editable, once it has been created.
This is the case where the Professional Services Tools can come in handy as it provides facilities to perform such activities at the ease of the click of a button. And the most interesting aspect is that, it also updates the entire history in GP, for the change which has been performed.
Microsoft provides quite a few tools across various modules, out of which I have listed a few of them, which have proved very useful for me on quite a few occasions.
System Tools
- Shortcuts Copy – This tool allows you to copy shortcuts from one user to another.
Financial Tools
- Account Modifier/Combiner – This tool is used to either change an existing account number to a new one (or) to combine 2 accounts into one, making sure that the history is also updated accordingly. This is very useful in case there is a need to change the chart of account structure depending on organization structural changes.
Sales Tools
- Customer Combiner / Modifier – This tool is used to either change an existing customer number to a new one (or) to combine 2 customer balances into one, making sure that the history is also updated accordingly.
- Receivables Management Transaction Unapply – This utility allows you to unapply historical receivable transactions and move them back to the open table, for re-apply process.
Purchasing Tools
- Vendor Combiner / Modifier – This tool is used to either change an existing vendor number to a new one (or) to combine 2 vendor balances into one, making sure that the history is also updated accordingly.
Note that all these utilities must be used, after taking a backup of the databases.
