Hi all
In this article, I am going to brief on a new functionality which is available in Dynamics GP v2010. This functionality allows us to combine multiple budgets and create a master budget.
In a scenario where each division (or) department in a GP company want to create and maintain their own budgets, we can create multiple budgets for each of the division (or) department and combine them into a master budget for analyzing corporate level budgets.
The screen below has a new button called Combine Budgets.
When the Combine Budgets button is clicked, the Combine Budgets window is opened as shown below.
The user can choose the master budget ID against which the existing budget should be combined with. This should be an existing budget. Then the user can choose the budget ID that needs to be combined with the Master Budget ID. Consider the case where we need to combine the budgets of 5 departments into a corporate budget, this process needs to be run 5 times in order to combine the budgets of 5 departments into the corporate budget ID.
We also have an option to delete the combined budget ID after it has been combined with the master budget ID.
This is a good feature especially if you want to create multiple budgets at various sub levels and still roll up all these budget values into a corporate budget to perform corporate level budget analysis.
Hope this helps… Until next post…
