Tech Tuesday: SmartList Builder, GP Web Client, and the GP January Hotfix

We wanted to make everyone aware of an issue that we have come across in recent weeks.

There is an issue in the January Hotfix for Microsoft Dynamics GP that is causing SmartList Builder issues when used in the Web Client. Because of the issues in the hotfix, the Table Finder feature in SmartList Builder cannot load and it causes GP in general to fail loading. If you remove SmartList Builder

Canadian Payroll 2012 T4 issue

There was an issue identified last week with the 2012 year end tax update that affects T4s.  This issue is being worked on and a hotfix should be available soon.

The specific issue is this:

  • Box 24 (EI Insurable Earnings) will show the 2011 rate $44,200 instead of the 2012 rate $45,900
  • Box 26 (CPP Pensionable Earnings) will show the 2011 rate $48,300 instead of the 2012 rate $50,100
  • Also, RL-1 Box G (QPP Pensionable Earnings) will show the 2011 rate $48,300 instead of the 2012 rate $50,100

These amounts will appear in the T4 edit (or RL-1 Edit) windows after running the Create T4 (RL-1) process.  There are scripts you can download to fix this issue, or you can wait until the hotfix is released.

Here are the Customersource links: GP2010 and GP10.

NOTE: if you create your T4s or RL-1s and then run the scripts – and THEN run Recreate T4s (or RL-1s) it wipes out the script update.  Keep this in mind and keep the scripts handy if you are creating and recreating the forms, until the hotfix is ready.

I’ll update this post when the hotfix is published.

Number of results columns doesn’t match table definition errors in Personal Data Keeper

Hi everyone,

If you are using Personal Data Keeper (PDK) you have probably seen a Get/Change message whose More Info button displays the error “Number of results columns doesnt match table definition.”  There are a number of errors that can cause that More Info message such as:

A get/change operation on table ‘UPR_MSTR_Tax_Info failed accessing SQL data
A get/change operation on ‘GL_Account_MSTR’ failed accessing SQL Data
A get/change operation on table ‘UPR_MSTR’ failed accessing SQL data
A get/change first operation on table ‘MC_Currency_SETP’ failed accessing SQL data
A get/change first operation on table ‘PDK_Employee_Expense_HDR’ failed accessing SQL data
A get/change operation on table ‘P_CPY_SETP_Income’ failed accessing SQL data
A get/change first operation on table ‘P_CPY_MSTR’ failed accessing SQL data

But what they all mean is that the version of Microsoft Dynamics GP and the version of PDK being used are not compatible.

What is compatible?
Here is a cheat sheet I created for my team that I wanted to share so you can use it to verify that the versions you are using play nicely together.

 GP 10.0

GP version

PDK version

10.0.774 – 10.0.872

10.00.19

10.0.903 – 10.0.991

10.00.20

10.0.1061 – 10.0.1129

10.00.23 or 24 or 26

10.0.1061 (SP3) Canadian Payroll users

10.00.26

10.0.1193 – 10.0.1328

10.00.24 or 26

10.0.1368 (SP4) – 10.0.1502

10.00.27

10.0.1579 (SP5) or 10.0.1634

10.00.31

10.0.1685 or 10.0.1757

10.00.32

10.0.1779 – current

10.00.1809 or 10.00.1837

10.0.1779  Canadian Payroll users

10.00.1837

 GP 2010

GP version

PDK version

11.00.1307 – 11.00.1524

11.00.1315

11.0.1585

11.00.1525

11.0.1667

11.00.1662

11.0.1752 – 11.00.1799

11.00.1719 or 11.00.1806

11.0.1860 – current

11.00.1863 or 11.00.1920

11.0.1860 Canadian Payroll users

11.00.1920

It is always a good idea when upgrading your version of GP to make sure that a new version of PDK has not also been released.

If you determine you need to update your version of PDK, you can find the latest patches here for GP 10 and here for GP 2010.  Note that these are typically not full installs of PDK, so you will need to make sure to have the RTM or SP2 version installed first.

Thanks for reading!
